Summer Abbott, MA, LMFT
If you want to move from loneliness to connection, from fear to vulnerability, or from emptiness to fulfillment, I can be a gentle guide to explore your struggles in an environment of safety and care. We can uncover, together, what type of growth will bring joy back to your life. I work with people in intimate relationships, individuals, and adolescents.
My style is welcoming, empathic, creative, and caring. I bring warmth to every interaction, and model compassionate care. I pride myself as someone both educated and humorous, and absolutely authentic. You will find me striving to be the best possible version of myself.
I am Masters prepared, with a clinical masters degree from Syracuse University. I was trained in a program focusing on LGBTQ+ rights, dignity, and social justice, while doing advanced studies in trauma treatment. I am a clinical AAMFT Member and am licensed to practice therapy in the State of New York. I see clients in person in East Syracuse, and teletherapy is an option if you are located in New York State.
I pull from the following models for couples/intimate relationships therapy: Discernment counseling, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Sex Therapy. For individuals, I may include Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
We will work towards you finding a greater sense of self-confidence, a stronger sense of identity, and a life more deeply rooted in love through our work together.
