Kristin Ressel-Dickerson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and clinical supervisor at Alkira. Kristin completed her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University, earning a certificate of advanced study in trauma-informed practices and receiving additional training to work with members of the LGBTQ+ population, including writing letters of support for clients seeking gender-affirming care. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, life transitions, and grief.

Kristin approaches therapy collaboratively, centering the needs and experiences of her clients. She has a warm, compassionate nature that lends itself to helping clients feel safe and understood. Kristin utilizes aspects of Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couple’s therapy.

Kristin has been trained in Levels 1 & 2 of the Gottman Method, is a certified grief counselor through the American Institute for Health Care Professionals, and is a candidate for the AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation. She has also presented research conducted in social and cross-cultural psychology at several international conferences, and worked on clinical trials centered around neurodegenerative diseases.

Kristin offers virtual therapy – phone and video – exclusively, and resides in the Buffalo area. If you wish to meet with her in person and are in WNY, please let us know! She is in network with several insurances for individual mental health treatment, and some out of network coverage may be available, including for Excellus.
