Elaine YowElaine is a trauma informed Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Diagnostic Privilege. She provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Elaine has experience supporting clients, and their loved ones navigate symptoms of PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. She provides person-centered, strength-based, collaborative, and integrated approaches with all clients. Some of the models used in therapy include EMDR, DBT informed therapy, Narrative Therapy, Bowen Family Therapy, Gottman Couple’s Therapy, and Gender Affirming Therapy. Her approach to therapy is warm, sincere, compassionate, and sometimes structured.

Elaine earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Trauma Informed Practice from Syracuse University. While at SU, Elaine received training in Gender Affirmation Therapy. Apart from SU, Elaine is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has completed levels 1 & 2 of Gottman Couple’s Therapy Training. Among her accomplishments, Elaine co-authored “Gender Dysphoria and Systemic Meaning” in the DSM-5-TR in Family Systems (2023) with Dr. Deborah Coolhart. Elaine further supported academic research by conducting a literature review of non-binary experiences which was used for Dr. Coolharts’ publications.
